8 DAYS SUMATRA OVERLAND TOUR
This North Sumatera Overland Tour comprises many excitements.
It covers almost half of the places of interest in Sumatera. We
believe that this package would match your desire for a perfect
tour which combine the interest of natural beauty and historical
features. Atmosphere of relaxation will initiate this tour by
visiting fresh and picturesque mountain resort with waterfall
drops some 100 meters into the vast Toba Lake. Within Lake Toba
is Samosir Island, centre of Batak culture where you can find
horned roof longhouses and stone furniture exhibition while listening
to the evocative music of Batak.
The tour proceed further west to Bukittinggi and surroundings.
In this destination cluster of discoveries are very interesting
like landmark of Bukittinggi - Jam Gadang (Big Ben), local people
handicraft of silver & embroidery, remnant of old fort, site of
the ancient Minangkabau Kingdom, the famed and magnificent Sianok
Canyon.
Day 01: Medan -
Berastagi
Upon arrival at the airport of Medan, you will be met and transferred
to Berastagi - a refreshing mountain resort which is 2 hours drive
from Medan. Before enter Berastagi, visit the traditional Batak
Karo Village - Peceran, where ancient houses are still in use,
then visit the fruit market. Arrive in Berastagi, check in at
your hotel for overnight.
Day 02: Berastagi
- Parapat - Samosir
After breakfast at hotel, depart for Parapat - mountain and lake
resort lies on eastern shore of Lake Toba. See the slender Sipiso-piso
waterfall drops into lake from hundreds of metres height. Visit
the ancient King’s Palace of Simalungun at Pematang Purba. Proceed
to Parapat with the view of vast tea and oil palm plantations
along your journey. Leave for Samosir - an island in island. It
takes 45 minutes journey by motorboat. Arrive in Samosir, check
in hotel for overnight.
Day 03: Samosir
- Parapat
After breakfast at hotel, Samosir Island Tour - an island in the
island. Visit the tomb of King Sidabutar and the Batak Toba village
at Tomok. Then to the next village Ambarita for the stone furniture
in front of traditional house. Also visit the traditional village
Simanindo, to see the folk dance Batak Toba. Return to Parapat
for overnight.
Day 04: Parapat
- Padang Sidempuan
After breakfast, leave the hotel for Padang Sidempuan - a small
town located in the midway from North to West Sumatra province.
Enroute, visit Gurgur - the view point, Balice - the richly ornamented
market building, Siriaria - the sulphuric hotspring. Arrive in
Padang Sidempuan, transfer to your hotel for overnight.
Day 05: Padang Sidempuan
- Bukittinggi
After breakfast at hotel, leave the hotel for Bukittinggi. The
journey exhibits the most beautiful sights of Sumatra inland.
Enroute, visits the Equator Monument at Bonjol. Arrive in Bukittinggi,
transfer to your hotel for overnight.
Day 06: Bukittinggi
Visits to Landmark of Bukittinggi - Jam Gadang (Big Ben), then
unique market, museum in traditional building, Ngarai Sianok -
the Grand Valley, Kota Gadang - well-known for its fine silverwork
and hard embroidery, Fort de Kock, etc. The tour is continued
to Pagaruyung - site of the ancient Minangkabau Kingdom where
Queens ruled in maternal society. Then to Limakaum and Pariangan
- the traditional villages. Back to hotel
for overnight.
Day
07: Bukittinggi - Padang
After breakfast at hotel, drive through the beautiful countryside
to the capital city of West Sumatra province - Padang. Arrive
in Padang, transfer to your hotel for overnight.

08: Padang
- Departure
Morning free at your own activities until the time for transfer
to airport for flight to your next destination.
